16-11-2023 (ANKARA) Turkish President Erdogan has labeled Israel a “terrorist state” for committing war crimes and violating international law in the Gaza Strip.
During a session in parliament on Wednesday (November 15th), Erdogan accused Israel of carrying out the most brutal attack in human history and committing acts of war crimes in the Gaza Strip. He claimed that Israel’s bombing of displaced civilians constituted state terrorism, thus branding Israel as a terrorist state.
Erdogan called for Israeli leaders to be brought to trial at the International Criminal Court in The Hague for their war crimes. He also reiterated that Hamas is not a terrorist organization but rather a political party that has won multiple elections. In response, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu took to the social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter) to assert that Erdogan’s statements were, in fact, in support of the terrorist organization Hamas.
Erdogan also condemned Western countries, particularly the United States, for supporting Israel’s military actions in Gaza, accusing them of “exonerating the killers.” Last month, following the eruption of conflict between Israel and Hamas, Turkey strongly criticized Israel’s attacks on civilian populations in Gaza, leading to the reciprocal recall of each country’s ambassadors.
The statements by President Erdogan further escalate tensions between Turkey and Israel, highlighting the ongoing discord between the two nations over the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The situation underscores the deep-rooted divisions and differing perspectives in the region, with both sides firmly entrenched in their positions.
