14-12-2023 (NEW YORK) Donald Trump, the former US president known for his flamboyant business ventures, has added a new item to his repertoire: selling fragments of a suit he wore during one of his arrests. Despite his numerous business failures, Trump is now promoting the sale of pieces of a blue suit he wore when arrested in August, leveraging it as “the most historically significant artifact in United States history.”
In a video announcement, Trump enthusiastically promotes the sale, claiming, “It was a great suit, believe me, a really good suit. It’s all cut up, and you’re gonna get a piece of it.” This latest entrepreneurial venture follows the monetization of his mugshot, with Trump already offering merchandise such as coffee mugs, T-shirts, and Christmas stockings featuring the image on his campaign website.
To acquire a fragment of the suit, buyers must first purchase 47 “digital trading cards,” each displaying an illustration of Trump, from the Collect Trump Cards website. The suit pieces, or ties, worn during his arrest – related to charges linked to attempts to overturn the election – will then be sent to the buyers. The suit is described as “priceless,” yet individuals can purchase a piece for a substantial sum of $4,699.53.
Trump, 77, whose business ventures have often ended in failure, has previously tried his hand at various enterprises, including Trump Vodka, Trump Mortgage, Trump Shuttle, and Trump Steaks, all of which were unsuccessful. Forbes reported in 2021 that Trump would have been significantly wealthier had he simply invested his inheritance from his father’s real estate business.
This marks the third series of cards that Trump has sold, with a previous batch of 45,000 cards generating nearly $4.4 million in sales. Notably, the fine print on Collect Trump Cards includes a disclaimer that buyers may receive a “limited edition Trump NFT” instead of the suit fragment if delivery issues arise.
