31-10-2024 (WASHINGTON) With less than a week until the American electorate heads to the polls, an unusual war of words involving “garbage” has taken centre stage in the presidential campaign, highlighting the increasingly contentious nature of the race.
The controversy escalated Wednesday when former President Donald Trump made a theatrical arrival at a Green Bay, Wisconsin rally in a branded refuse collection vehicle, days after a controversial incident at Madison Square Garden where a comedian made derogatory remarks about Puerto Rico.
TRUMP ARRIVES FOR CAMPAIGN RALLY IN A GARBAGE TRUCK!
“How do you like my garbage truck? This truck is in honor of Kamala and Joe Biden.”

The theatrical gesture came in response to President Joe Biden’s recent comments that some interpreted as referring to Trump supporters as “garbage,” though Biden has since moved to clarify his remarks. Vice President Kamala Harris attempted to defuse tensions, stating, “I strongly disagree with any criticism of people based on who they vote for.”
Speaking to reporters from his unconventional campaign transport, Trump declared, “250 million people are not garbage,” while pointedly avoiding direct criticism of his opponent. The former president continued to raise concerns about electoral integrity, particularly in Pennsylvania, though when pressed about accepting election results, he indicated he would do so “if they find no evidence of cheating anywhere.”
The former president also addressed speculation about potential administration roles, particularly regarding Robert F. Kennedy Jr. While Trump praised Kennedy as “very talented” and emphasised their shared interest in public health initiatives, he stopped short of confirming any specific appointment.
