19-7-2023 (SINGAPORE) Transport Minister S Iswaran was questioned by the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau (CPIB) for approximately 10 hours on Tuesday (Jul 18), marking his first appearance at the anti-graft agency since news of his connection to an ongoing investigation surfaced last week.
According to reports by national daily The Straits Times, Mr Iswaran arrived at the CPIB building in Lengkok Bahru, Redhill, at approximately 10:50 am on Tuesday, driving a grey Mazda 6 saloon. Dressed in a blue shirt and dark trousers, he entered the building alone, without making any comments to the media.
Later in the day, at around 8:48 pm, Mr Iswaran was spotted leaving the CPIB building in a dark-coloured Audi sports utility vehicle by reporters from TODAY, a local news outlet.
The CPIB had announced last Friday that Mr Iswaran and Ong Beng Seng, the managing director of Hotel Property Limited, had been arrested on Jul 11 and were assisting with ongoing investigations. No further details on the nature of the investigation were provided by the CPIB.
Following their arrests, both Mr Iswaran and Mr Ong were released on bail, and their passports were impounded as part of their bail conditions.
