9-7-2023 (CALIFORNIA) In a devastating incident on Saturday morning, a plane crash in a Southern California field resulted in the loss of six lives. The aircraft, which burst into flames upon impact, crashed near an airport located in the city of Murrieta, California. Murrieta, situated in southwest Riverside County, lies between the bustling cities of Los Angeles and San Diego.
According to reports from KTLA, the ill-fated flight had originally taken off from the Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas before meeting its untimely fate in the field. The aircraft has been identified as a Cessna C550 business jet, as confirmed by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
Upon the arrival of deputies at the scene, they were met with a horrific sight as the plane was engulfed in flames, accompanied by approximately one acre of vegetation that had caught fire. Tragically, the six individuals on board the plane were pronounced dead at the scene by the Riverside County Fire Department shortly after their discovery. At this time, the identities of the victims have not been released.
Both the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and the FAA have initiated investigations into the crash. The goal of these investigations is to determine the cause of the incident and shed light on the circumstances leading up to the tragic crash.
This recent incident marks the second fatal crash to occur in close proximity to the French Valley Airport in Riverside County. Merely days before, on Tuesday, another crash claimed the life of one individual and left three others injured when a plane collided with the side of a building near the airport.
