15-10-2024 (KUALA LUMPUR) A serene morning swim turned into a heart-wrenching tragedy as a 10-year-old boy is believed to have fallen prey to a crocodile attack off the coast of Pantai Sinakut, Tungku. The incident, which occurred earlier today, has sent shockwaves through the local community and raised concerns about safety in the area’s waters.
Denis Rodi, the young victim, was enjoying a swim with five of his friends when the unthinkable happened. According to District Police Chief Dzulbaharin Ismail, initial investigations suggest that the boy was suddenly snatched by a crocodile and dragged into the depths of the sea, leaving his companions and onlookers in a state of shock and disbelief.
The alarm was quickly raised, prompting an immediate response from family members and villagers who launched a frantic search for the missing child. Despite their valiant efforts, the initial attempts to locate Denis proved unsuccessful, intensifying the anguish of those involved in the search operation.
As hope began to fade, the boy’s stepfather took the grim step of lodging a police report, which led to the deployment of four police officers to assist in the search efforts alongside the local villagers. The collaborative search operation yielded a tragic discovery at 9:26 am when Denis’s body was found approximately 600 metres from the site of his disappearance.
In a gruesome testament to the ferocity of the attack, Police Chief Ismail reported that the recovered body was missing its head and right arm, leaving no doubt about the violent nature of the incident.
