18-6-2023 (SLAMABAD) A devastating bus accident in the Chakwal district of Pakistan’s eastern Punjab province has resulted in the loss of at least 14 lives, with over 20 individuals sustaining injuries. The incident occurred on Saturday when a passenger bus overturned on the motorway near the Kallar Kahar area. According to Deputy Inspector General of National Highways and Motorway Police Muhammad Yusuf Malik, the driver lost control of the bus due to brake failure, leading to the catastrophic crash.
Among the victims of this tragic accident are five women and three children. The ill-fated bus was en route from the federal capital Islamabad to Lahore, the provincial capital of Punjab, when the accident occurred.
Upon receiving the distressing news, local authorities, police, and rescue workers swiftly arrived at the scene. The injured passengers were promptly transported to a nearby hospital, where several of them are reported to be in critical condition.
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif expressed profound grief and sorrow over the loss of precious lives in the accident. He has ordered a comprehensive report on the incident and directed the relevant authorities to ensure that the injured receive the best possible medical treatment.
