18-10-2023 (SEOUL) Images of the woman, who appears to be clad in nothing more than a cardboard box, were shared on an online community thread titled “Real-time Apgujeong Box Girl.” The pictures depict the woman in Gangnam’s Apgujeong neighborhood guiding the hands of both men and women through openings on either side of the box, seemingly allowing them to touch her breasts.
Reactions to the thread have been mixed. Some individuals responded with amusement, commenting that such behavior is unique to Seoul and supporting a more open sexual culture. However, there was also a significant amount of criticism, with some asserting that the woman’s performance bordered on obscenity and the objectification of women.
The woman in question, often referred to as the “Apgujeong Box Girl,” was later identified as Ain, a South Korean adult video actor and model. Ain expressed her gratitude for what she termed the “Angel Box event” on Instagram.
Ain has characterized her actions as a form of performance art and, in an interview with local media, stated that her intention was to challenge the double standards surrounding the perception of male and female bodies in society. She also mentioned that her agency’s CEO had encouraged this unconventional approach as a means to challenge South Korea’s conservative sexual culture for promotional purposes.
