18-10-2023 (BEIJING) A horrifying incident unfolded in Chengdu, China, when a two-year-old girl was viciously attacked by a rottweiler, despite her mother’s courageous attempts to defend her. The toddler sustained severe injuries as a result of the relentless assault.
The incident, which lasted a harrowing 40 seconds, occurred on Monday morning and left the child in critical condition. She was immediately admitted to the intensive care unit with a ruptured kidney, fractured ribs, and lacerations covering her body.
In the early hours of Tuesday, the owner of the unleashed rottweiler was arrested. Another dog owner, whose unleashed labrador was present during the unprovoked attack, was also taken into custody.
Footage from a closed-circuit television camera capturing the incident was posted on YouTube. It reveals the rottweiler wandering unaccompanied within a residential compound.
As the mother and child exit an apartment building, the dog observes them from a distance. Sensing danger, the mother cautiously moves backward, using her own body as a shield to protect her child from the approaching dog.
Unexpectedly, the rottweiler lunges forward, encircles the pair, and snatches the girl from her mother’s grasp, causing the terrified mother to fall to the ground.
The child is then dragged across the compound repeatedly as her mother and the rottweiler struggle to gain control of her.
Two cleaners, armed with long mops, rush to their aid, while the labrador also approaches the scene, although it refrains from joining the attack.
Finally, the three adults manage to intimidate the dogs with their mops, forcing them to retreat.
The child is currently in stable condition, receiving medical care.
Ms. Deng, the mother of the victim, recounted the traumatic incident, stating that she was taking her daughter to kindergarten when the brutal attack occurred.
She described the dog as large, with clean fur and a well-fed appearance, suggesting that it may have been someone’s pet.
