22-6-2023 (NORTH ATLANTIC) Rescue efforts continue for the five passengers of the Titan submersible which has been missing since Sunday, with only 12 hours of oxygen left on board. A Canadian aircraft searching for the sub in the Atlantic Ocean detected intermittent “banging” noises from the vicinity of its last known location, according to the US Coast Guard.

Crews searching for the missing sub also heard banging sounds every 30 minutes on Tuesday and again four hours later on Wednesday after deploying additional sonar devices. However, the US Coast Guard has stated that they “don’t know the source of the noise” and the search for the submersible is ongoing.
On board the Titan are OceanGate Expeditions CEO and founder Stockton Rush, British billionaire explorer Hamish Harding, renowned French diver Paul-Henri Nargeolet, and Pakistani businessman Shahzada Dawood and his 19-year-old son Suleman Dawood. Mr. Dawood’s sister, Sabrina Dawood, has told Sky News that the Dawood family is solely focused on the rescue of her brother and nephew and hope for their safe return.
The submersible was en route to the wreckage of the Titanic, which sits at a depth of 12,500ft, when it lost contact with its surface ship, the Polar Prince, on Sunday morning. The Titan is equipped with a four-day emergency oxygen supply, but with only 12 hours remaining, time is running out for the missing passengers.
The search for the missing submersible has involved multiple agencies, including the US Coast Guard, Canadian Armed Forces, and the Royal Navy. The cause of the submersible’s disappearance is still unknown, and the search for the missing passengers continues with the hope of a successful rescue.
