28-11-2025 (BANGKOK) Former Thai prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra spent nearly two hours with his three children during a special family visitation event at Klong Prem Central Prison on Thursday, according to details first reported by local media and shared publicly by his daughter, Paetongtarn Shinawatra.
Paetongtarn, alongside her husband Pitaka Suksawat and her siblings Panthongtae and Pintongta Shinawatra, joined Thaksin for lunch, shopping at an inmate-run market, and a photo session inside the prison grounds. The visit — their 20th since Thaksin began serving a one-year sentence ordered by the Supreme Court — took place under a nationwide Corrections Department programme allowing families to sit and dine with inmates rather than speak through glass partitions.
The family left the prison at around 2:50 p.m., carrying printed photos taken during the visit. Paetongtarn later shared one image on Instagram, showing Thaksin smiling in a light blue inmate uniform, embraced by his children. She said her father ate Chinese roll noodle soup and a small hamburger and appeared to be in good health. The family also discussed the flooding in southern Thailand, with Thaksin expressing concern for affected communities.
In her post, Paetongtarn reflected on the moment feeling like “childhood again,” recalling memories of walking through fresh markets with her father.
