12-6-2023 (BANGKOK) Thailand’s election commission announced on Monday that it will initiate an investigation into Pita Limjaroenrat, the leading candidate for the prime ministerial position, dealing a fresh blow to his aspirations for the premiership.
The commission, responsible for monitoring elections, has established a special committee to examine whether Pita, whose Move Forward Party secured the highest number of seats in the recent election, meets the qualifications required to hold public office.
