3-5-2024 (BANGKOK) Thailand’s headline Consumer Price Index (CPI) experienced a marginal increase of 0.19 per cent in April compared to the same period last year, marking a turnaround from the 0.47 per cent year-on-year decline observed in the previous month, according to data released by the commerce ministry on Friday.
The April CPI figure defied expectations, surpassing the forecasted 0.25 per cent decline anticipated in a Reuters poll.
Additionally, April’s core CPI, which excludes volatile food and energy prices, recorded a modest uptick of 0.37 per cent compared to the previous year, indicating a slight increase in underlying inflationary pressures.
