22-2-2025 (BANGKOK) Thai authorities have successfully repatriated 621 Chinese nationals linked to call-centre fraud schemes and human trafficking operations in Myanmar.
The latest phase of the operation, conducted by the Naresuan Force on Saturday, saw 121 suspects transported in groups from the Second Thai-Myanmar Friendship Bridge Border Checkpoint in Mae Sot, Tak province, to Mae Sot International Airport.
The morning operation began at 9:50 am when two coaches carrying 50 individuals arrived at the border checkpoint. Following immigration processing, the suspects boarded a China Southern Airlines flight which departed at 11:15 am. A second group of 50 suspects was transported between 10:40 am and 11:05 am, departing on another China Southern Airlines flight at 12:25 pm. The remaining suspects left on a final afternoon flight.
This weekend’s operation marks the culmination of a larger repatriation effort that began on Thursday, when 200 suspects were returned to China across four flights. The operation intensified on Friday with 300 more individuals repatriated on six separate flights.
The mass repatriation highlights ongoing efforts by Thai authorities to crack down on transnational criminal networks operating in the region. These networks have been particularly active along the Thai-Myanmar border, often exploiting vulnerable individuals in sophisticated fraud schemes.
Thai immigration officials maintained strict protocols throughout the operation, ensuring all deportees were processed in accordance with national immigration laws before their departure. The successful coordination between Thai law enforcement and Chinese authorities demonstrates growing regional cooperation in combating cross-border criminal activities.
