20-1-2025 (KUALA LUMPUR) A 30-year-old Thai national was discovered dead in a shopping centre washroom in Johor Bahru yesterday afternoon, local authorities have confirmed.
Assistant Commissioner Balveer Singh Mahindar Singh, reported that officers responded to an emergency call at approximately 2:28 pm after cleaning staff discovered the woman’s body in a toilet cubicle at a prominent mall in the city centre.
“Initial investigations suggest no foul play was involved in this tragic incident,” AC Singh stated at a press briefing. “We are treating this as a case of sudden death whilst our enquiries continue.”
The deceased, whose identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, was found with significant blood loss in the enclosed cubicle. A pair of bloodstained shoes was recovered from the scene.
The shopping centre’s management released a statement expressing their full cooperation with law enforcement and emphasised their commitment to assisting the ongoing investigation.
“We are deeply saddened by this unfortunate incident,” the statement read. “We ask that the public respect the privacy of the deceased’s family during this difficult time and refrain from circulating unverified information.”
The woman’s remains have been transferred to Johor Bahru General Hospital for post-mortem examination. Malaysian authorities are working in conjunction with Thai officials to locate and notify the deceased’s family members.
Thai media outlets have begun reporting on the incident, as authorities continue their efforts to contact relatives of the deceased in Thailand.
