24-1-2025 (BANGKOK) Thai authorities have apprehended a 22-year-old transgender social media personality in a coordinated operation targeting illegal adult content distribution. The suspect, identified only as Chakraphat, was arrested yesterday at a hotel car park in Pak Kret district, Nonthaburi province.
The Technology Crime Suppression Division (TCSD) launched the investigation after discovering a prominent social media account on X (formerly Twitter) with approximately 30,000 followers that was allegedly distributing explicit content through a subscription-based model.
Detective Superintendent Sarayut Junnawat, who led the operation, revealed that the suspect had been operating a sophisticated membership scheme charging 260 baht per subscriber for access to exclusive adult content through private accounts. “The operation had amassed over 300 paying members during its two-year run, generating monthly revenues in the tens of thousands of baht,” he said.
According to police reports, subscribers would initially encounter sample content on the public profile before being directed to make payment for full access to private channels. The TCSD’s cybercrime unit spent several weeks gathering evidence before obtaining an arrest warrant from the Nonthaburi Provincial Court.
During questioning, Chakraphat admitted to running the content distribution network since 2023. The suspect also disclosed receiving numerous offers from illegal gambling operations and fraudulent investment schemes to promote their services but claimed to have declined these proposals.
The arrest comes as part of Thailand’s broader crackdown on cyber-enabled adult content distribution. Chakraphat faces multiple charges under the Computer Crime Act, including disseminating obscene material through computer systems and operating an illegal commercial adult content distribution network.
