24-5-2024 (BERN) In a desperate plea for assistance, the Royal Thai Embassy in Bern has taken to social media, appealing for information on the whereabouts of a 32-year-old Thai woman who has been missing for nearly a month while visiting Switzerland with her foreign boyfriend.
The embassy’s Facebook post comes in response to widespread online concern after the sister of Nantiwa “Noon” Saejiw issued a public call for help, expressing grave worries about her sibling’s well-being.
According to the embassy’s statement, Noon’s last social media activity was recorded on April 26, prompting her family to raise the alarm. The embassy acknowledged its awareness of the case, stating, “The Thai embassy in Bern is aware of the case and has already coordinated with the family and relatives of Khun Noon both in Thailand and Switzerland to ask for further details and closely follow up the case.”
Complicating matters further, Noon was travelling on a Swedish passport, the embassy revealed. However, resolute in their efforts, authorities have taken decisive action. “At this stage, relatives have already filed a missing person complaint with a local police station at Interlaken,” the embassy disclosed.
In a bid to cast a wider net, the embassy has sought permission from Noon’s family to share her plight publicly, urging anyone with potentially useful information to come forward. “The embassy has received permission from her family and posted this message to help find her. Anyone who finds or has any information that may be useful to locate her, please contact the embassy via Facebook messenger or the emergency phone number +41 (0) 79 8642674,” the appeal states.
Noon’s sister, known as “Fon’mama Dumbbell” on Facebook, had initially raised the alarm on May 18, revealing that her younger sibling’s last communication was on April 26. Expressing grave concerns about Noon’s underlying medical condition, Fon painted a concerning picture of her sister’s circumstances.
According to Fon, before embarking on her journey to Switzerland, Noon had shared plans to marry her boyfriend, an American eight years her senior, and subsequently settle in the United States. Alarmingly, the pair had only met a week prior through a dating app, raising further questions about the circumstances surrounding Noon’s disappearance.
Compounding the family’s distress, media reports have surfaced indicating that Noon’s boyfriend had previously faced charges for detaining a woman, casting a sinister shadow over the unfolding events.
