16-3-2024 (KUALA LUMPUR) A significant breakthrough has been made in the fight against drug trafficking as two Thai couples have been apprehended by authorities in Selangor. The Selangor police chief, Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan, announced during a press conference at the police headquarters that a total of six individuals were arrested in coordinated raids conducted in Subang Jaya, Ampang Jaya, and Balakong.
The first raid, executed on Wednesday, resulted in the arrest of two local men in Subang Jaya after their vehicle was intercepted by the police. Upon conducting a thorough search of the car, law enforcement discovered a staggering 40.1kg of compressed cannabis, a potent form of cannabis.
Comm Hussein revealed, “During the subsequent questioning, the suspects divulged crucial information to the police, leading them to a residence in Ampang Jaya, where an additional 50.3kg of cannabis was seized on the same day.”
Furthermore, the discoveries made in Ampang Jaya led to the arrest of two foreign couples residing in a housing area in Balakong. It was determined through the course of the investigation that these couples were allegedly involved in the distribution and sale of illicit drugs.
Intriguingly, authorities have uncovered a complex network involved in the drug trade. The arrested couples were found to be responsible for sourcing the narcotics from neighboring countries. However, it is believed that other individuals or organizations were responsible for smuggling the drugs into Malaysia.
The arrests made in Selangor not only signify a major blow to drug trafficking operations but also demonstrate the relentless efforts of law enforcement agencies in combating the illicit drug trade. The successful raids and subsequent arrests are a testament to the unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of the community.
The authorities are now intensifying their investigations to dismantle the entire network involved in this nefarious enterprise. Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan has assured the public that no stone will be left unturned in bringing all those responsible to justice.
