9-11-2023 (BANGKOK) The “Defence & Security 2023” exhibition is currently underway, featuring 500 leading manufacturers of military and internal security equipment from 40 countries. The event is taking place at IMPACT Muang Thong Thani in Nonthaburi, running from Monday through Thursday.
Thai companies are prominently represented at this year’s defence expo, including Chaiseri, a Pathum Thani-based firm specializing in defence land systems for armoured vehicles, track systems, run-flat tyres, and maintenance and upgrading services for military vehicles. Chaiseri’s products and services are exported to more than 40 countries, contributing to the readiness of defence forces worldwide.
Jatunapas, headquartered in Nakhon Pathom, is showcasing its 20 years of experience in manufacturing and designing military equipment and systems. This includes the upgrade of the BTR-3 armoured personnel carrier into a command-control vehicle.
Marsun, a private shipbuilder based in Samut Prakan, has delivered over 322 ships to government and private agencies in Thailand and abroad. Their portfolio encompasses fast patrol craft, fast attack missile craft, crew and supply vessels, ferries, motor yachts, oil spill recovery vessels, and multi-purpose craft.
Also participating in the exhibition is Weapons Manufacture Industries, a joint-venture company established under the Defence Technology Act with the aim of enhancing Thailand’s potential for weapons manufacturing. The company is in the process of establishing a gun manufacturing plant in Lopburi to support the operations of the Defence Ministry, Thai military, police, and related agencies.
It’s worth noting that the top five weapons exporters in the world last year were the US, Russia, France, Germany, and Spain, with Thailand ranking 32nd in imports.
