9-12-2024 (BANGKOK) Thai authorities have conducted a sweeping crackdown on an international pornographic content operation, arresting seven individuals including British, Russian, German, and Serbian nationals in a sting dubbed “Cut the Rabbit, Suppress Sex Creators.”
The Anti-Human Trafficking Division’s operation, carried out across Bangkok, Chonburi, and Suvarnabhumi Airport, targeted an elaborate network that allegedly produced explicit content featuring Thai nationals in public spaces, including the country’s iconic tuk-tuks.
Police Colonel Sarut Khawengsopa, Commander of the Crime Suppression Division, revealed that the suspects included 40-year-old British national Benjamin Jon Wilkinson, Russian citizen Andrei Gerbennikov, 34, German national Volker Matthias Graul, 48, and Serbian Zvezdan Stojanov, 32. Three Thai nationals were also apprehended in the operation.
The investigation uncovered a sophisticated operation where foreign producers collaborated with local facilitators to create and distribute adult content globally through online platforms. The suspects allegedly recruited Thai
women and transgender individuals for their productions, occasionally featuring prominent local adult content creators.
“This operation was part of our broader strategy to combat transnational crimes that exploit Thailand’s image,” said Police Lieutenant Colonel Sarut. “These activities not only violate Thai law but also damage our nation’s reputation internationally.”
The suspects face charges related to the production, possession, and international distribution of obscene materials. In a disturbing development, investigators discovered child exploitation material in one suspect’s possession, prompting authorities to expand their investigation to include potential human trafficking charges.
All suspects have been remanded to the Crime Suppression Division 2 for further investigation. Most have reportedly confessed to the charges, according to police sources.
The operation follows direct orders from Police General Kittirat Panphet, Thailand’s national police chief, to crack down on transnational criminal networks using the kingdom as a base for illegal content production.
