6-3-2024 (MELBOURNE) In a meeting on the sidelines of the ASEAN-Australia special summit, Thai Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin and his New Zealand counterpart, Christopher Luxon, discussed key issues, including a mutual visa exemption. The leaders agreed to delve into further talks regarding this proposal to enhance diplomatic relations.
Both prime ministers expressed commitment to bolstering bilateral ties and exploring new avenues for collaboration between their nations. Srettha acknowledged the longstanding 68-year relationship between Thailand and New Zealand, highlighting Bangkok’s position as Wellington’s oldest ally in Southeast Asia.
Srettha extended an invitation for Luxon to make an official visit to Thailand, anticipating that the meeting would open doors for fresh areas of cooperation. Luxon reciprocated the sentiment, emphasizing his pleasure at the opportunity to discuss vital matters and pledging to elevate comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.
Luxon shared plans to lead a business delegation in April, focusing on discussions covering agriculture, education, the digital economy, and green energy during their visit to Thailand. Srettha welcomed the prospect of Luxon’s delegation, expressing eagerness for their discussions in Bangkok.
