17-4-2024 (BANGKOK) Thai AirAsia X has announced compensation for passengers affected by emergency landings of two of its flights from Seoul and Osaka in Hong Kong due to engine malfunctions.
The incidents occurred on the following flights:
• Flight XJ701 departing from Seoul on Sunday, carrying 289 passengers and 11 crew members.
Following engine issues, the flight landed safely in Hong Kong and subsequently resumed its journey, arriving at Suvarnabhumi International Airport at 4 a.m. on Monday without further incident.
• Flight XJ611 departing from Osaka on Monday, carrying 364 passengers and 11 crew members.
After landing in Hong Kong for engine maintenance, the flight departed at 4 p.m. on Tuesday and is scheduled to arrive at Suvarnabhumi at 5:30 p.m.
In compensation for the inconvenience caused, Thai AirAsia X provided affected passengers with:
Food and drink vouchers for use at Hong Kong Airport, along with complimentary beverages onboard the flight from Hong Kong to Suvarnabhumi. Free accommodation for passengers of Flight XJ611. A credit of 2,000 baht (S$74) towards future AirAsia tickets.
Additionally, affected passengers were offered the option of boarding another AirAsia flight from Hong Kong to Don Mueang Airport. The airline expressed apologies for any inconvenience experienced.
