17-6-2023 (KUALA LUMPUR) American electric car manufacturer Tesla has begun its public recruitment drive in the country, and the response has been overwhelming. Within just one week of posting job advertisements, approximately 3,000 individuals lined up for interviews. Some eager applicants even arrived as early as 7 a.m. at the interview venue, Cyberview Sdn Bhd in Cyberjaya.
According to Izzat Sofiya, the Head of Strategic Communications and Marketing at the company, the influx of applicants started as early as 8 a.m. on Saturday, with over 2,000 people already queuing up by 11 a.m.
Despite the official start time of the recruitment activities being at 12 p.m., by 10:30 a.m., the line of hopeful candidates had stretched all the way down the street, with a constant stream of people joining the queue.
Tesla’s public recruitment campaign in Malaysia is specifically targeting 5 positions: Sales Advisor/Internal Sales Advisor, Corporate Sales Advisor, Transport Advisor, Customer Service Officer, and After-Sales Service Advisor. However, according to Tesla’s official website, the company is hiring for multiple roles in Malaysia, including Supplier Industrialization Engineer, Office Administrator, Senior HR Business Partner, Parts Advisor, Vehicle Technician, Store Manager, Senior Accountant, and IT Technical Support, among others.
In March of this year, the Ministry of Investment, Trade, and Industry announced that Tesla would be establishing an office in Malaysia and developing a charging network for its electric vehicles (EVs). Subsequently, the government approved Tesla’s application to import fully electric vehicles (BEVs).
