8-1-2025 (SAMUT PRAKAN) An 82-year-old grandmother’s peaceful morning routine turned into moments of sheer terror when armed teenagers brought their violent confrontation to her doorstep, forcing her to flee into her home for safety.
The harrowing incident, captured on CCTV footage, shows Mrs Jaree washing clothes outside her residence in Soi Thai Samut 1 when two rival groups of vocational students on motorcycles engaged in a dangerous standoff. The elderly woman was seen raising her hands in a traditional Thai wai gesture, desperately pleading with the youths to cease their aggression.
One group, comprising three individuals, sought refuge within Mrs Jaree’s property, whilst their pursuers – two young men brandishing firearms and knives – maintained an aggressive stance outside. The situation only de-escalated when Mrs Jaree’s son emerged, warning of police arrival.
“I was absolutely terrified,” Mrs Jaree recounted, still visibly shaken by the ordeal. “When I saw the gun being pointed towards my house, my heart nearly stopped. I begged them to stop, but they wouldn’t listen.”
Her grandson, Yotchai, 43, discovered the extent of the incident after reviewing security footage. “Thankfully, no property was damaged, but my grandmother was severely distressed by the whole affair,” he stated. “This is typically a quiet neighbourhood. Such violence is completely unacceptable.”
Local law enforcement has launched a full investigation into the matter. Police Colonel Raksak Mekchinda, Superintendent of Samrong Tai Police Station, confirmed that officers are actively pursuing both groups of teenagers involved in the altercation.
Mrs Jaree, who intends to file a formal police complaint, offered a poignant message to young troublemakers: “This reckless behaviour only leads to prison cells and broken families. It’s not worth it.”
