9-8-2024 (KUALA LUMPUR) A 14-year-old girl has been remanded in custody until tomorrow following her arrest on suspicion of trespassing and impersonating staff at a public hospital in Serdang. The incident, which has raised concerns about security measures in healthcare facilities, unfolded yesterday at the Sultan Idris Shah Hospital.
Magistrate Bukhori Ruslan of the Sepang court issued the remand order this morning, allowing authorities to detain the teenager for further investigation. The case is being pursued under Sections 448 and 170 of the Penal Code, which deal with trespassing and impersonation of a civil servant, respectively.
The young suspect, clad in orange lock-up attire, was escorted by police to the Sepang court complex at approximately 8:40 am, drawing attention to the unusual nature of the case involving a minor.
Sepang police chief Wan Kamarul Azran Wan Yusof provided details of the arrest, stating that the teenager was apprehended at 9 am yesterday in the lobby of the Sultan Idris Shah Hospital. In a concerning development, police seized medical scrubs and a hospital lanyard from the girl, suggesting a premeditated attempt to blend in with genuine hospital staff.
