7-11-2023 (MANILA) A gruesome crime unfolded at Baybay National High School in Baybay City, Leyte, as authorities discovered the lifeless body of a teacher who had been brutally stabbed to death. The heinous act has incited public outrage and sparked a social media campaign for justice.
The victim, identified as 29-year-old teacher Peejay Gonzaga Montero from Barangay San Isidro in Baybay City, met a tragic end.
According to preliminary reports from the Baybay City Police Station, Montero’s lifeless body was discovered on the ground, lying face down near a water tank post and close to a school stockroom. This grim discovery was made around 5 pm on a fateful Sunday.
The Baybay Emergency Response Unit (BERU) promptly alerted the police station about the stabbing and the teacher’s tragic demise.
Montero’s family members, former students, and colleagues have come together in the pursuit of justice, launching a collective social media campaign under the hashtag #JusticeForSirPJMontero.
The Baybay National High School Supreme Student Council and Campus Integrity Crusaders expressed their profound sorrow over the loss of their former teacher in an official statement on their Facebook page. They conveyed their deepest sympathies to the grieving family and expressed hope that justice would prevail.
In a separate statement, the Office of the Schools Division Superintendent in Baybay City, led by Manuel Albaño, extended their condolences to the family. They encouraged school principals, teachers, and staff to offer prayers and financial support to Montero’s family. The statement also indicated that a Division Bulletin would be issued once the investigation into his death is fully concluded.
