21-3-2025 (SINGAPORE) A prominent Tamil radio personality faces serious legal consequences for alleged sexual misconduct and voyeuristic behaviour.
Gunalan Morgan, 43, a former producer-presenter at Mediacorp’s Oli968, appeared before the State Courts facing seven charges, with four specifically related to sexual offences. The broadcasting company swiftly terminated his employment following his arrest.
The allegations paint a troubling picture of misconduct, including inappropriate communication with an underage individual during late August 2024. Most concerning are the multiple instances of alleged voyeurism, where Morgan stands accused of surreptitiously recording intimate parts of two women without their consent.
The case took a more serious turn when investigators discovered that Morgan allegedly attempted to destroy evidence by deleting Instagram conversations after learning of a police report filed against him. This action resulted in an additional charge of obstructing justice.
Given the sensitive nature of the allegations, the court has imposed a gag order to protect the identities of the three alleged victims and the locations where the incidents purportedly occurred. Morgan, who appeared in court without legal representation, indicated his intention to secure counsel.
Should Morgan be found guilty, he faces significant penalties. The charge of communicating sexually with a minor carries a possible two-year imprisonment term. The obstruction of justice charge could result in up to seven years’ incarceration, whilst voyeurism offences may lead to imprisonment, fines, or corporal punishment.
The case continues, with Morgan scheduled to return to court on 21 April.
