11-12-2023 (SINGAPORE) In a heartfelt joint statement posted on Taiwanese singer and actress Vivian Hsu’s Instagram account on December 10, it was revealed that Hsu and her husband of nine years, Singapore-based businessman Sean Lee, are parting ways. The couple cited differences as the primary reason for their decision to divorce.
Expressing gratitude for the dedication and growth they experienced during their nine-year marriage, the statement, written in Chinese, acknowledged that despite their best efforts, overcoming their differences proved insurmountable. The couple described their separation as the “most difficult” yet “most appropriate” outcome after careful consideration and communication.
Hsu, 48, and Lee, the Chief Executive of marine logistics company Marco Polo Marine, exchanged vows in June 2014. The couple shares an eight-year-old son named Dalton Lee, while Sean Lee has two daughters from a previous marriage.
The announcement comes just four days after Hsu posted a side-view photo on Instagram on December 6, accompanied by the caption: “I’m not happy now. How about you?”
This isn’t the first time Vivian Hsu’s personal life has made headlines. In December 2021, she was entangled in singer Wang Leehom’s divorce saga when Wang’s ex-wife, Lee Jinglei, alluded to one of the women Wang had an affair with being a married woman with a child, sparking speculation that Hsu was the individual in question.
Responding to the allegations in a social media post on December 22, 2021, Hsu defended her reputation, stating, “As a woman, as a wife, and as a mother, how can I not stand up and defend my reputation?” The recent announcement of her divorce from Sean Lee marks a new chapter in Hsu’s life, prompting speculation about the circumstances surrounding their separation.
