24-8-2023 (TAIPEI) In a shocking and brutal incident, a 37-year-old man in Kaohsiung City, Taiwan, was stabbed over 100 times by his girlfriend’s ex-husband while he was sleeping at home. The assailant, identified as Mr. He, also tied a nylon rope around the victim’s neck before leaving him for dead. Tragically, the victim’s girlfriend, Ms. Yao, returned to the scene after the attack but mistakenly believed her boyfriend was exercising and left the premises. The victim later succumbed to his injuries.
According to reports from local sources, Ms. Yao had divorced her husband, Mr. He, due to frequent quarrels and allegations of an extramarital affair. On the morning of May 6, 2022, Mr. He went to his ex-wife’s house to discuss matters but was met with a shocking sight. Instead of finding Ms. Yao, he discovered her new boyfriend, Mr. Wu, asleep in her house wearing only underwear.
Enraged by the sight, Mr. He grabbed a fruit knife and launched a vicious attack on Mr. Wu, stabbing him a total of 131 times, primarily targeting his upper body and neck. During the struggle, Mr. Wu was also stabbed with a second knife. Mr. He then used a nylon rope to hang Mr. Wu from the toilet doorknob.
Approximately 18 minutes after the gruesome assault, Ms. Yao returned to her residence and found the front door locked. She heard her boyfriend gasping for breath but, tragically, misinterpreted it as exhaustion from exercising and left him unattended. Unfortunately, Mr. Wu succumbed to excessive blood loss and asphyxiation.
Mr. He, in an attempt to cover up the evidence, unsuccessfully tried to clean up the blood before fleeing the scene. Ms. Yao returned to her residence at noon that day, only to discover her lifeless boyfriend lying in a pool of blood. Horrified, she immediately contacted the police.
The authorities apprehended the murderer the following day, finding him hiding in a small maintenance space above an elevator at Gushan railway station. Mr. He was subsequently sentenced to life imprisonment for the heinous crime. Although he has the option to appeal the decision, the court recently upheld the original sentence.
