5-2-2025 (KUALA LUMPUR) A heart-stopping incident unfolded at Sultan Idris Shah Hospital yesterday when a sports utility vehicle nearly plummeted from the third-floor car park after a dramatic crash through safety barriers.
The Honda WR-V came to rest precariously balanced on the edge of the multi-storey car park, with its front wheels suspended in mid-air after the vehicle reportedly skidded and smashed through an iron railing and concrete wall around 1:20 PM local time.
Eyewitnesses reported hearing a thunderous crash that drew the attention of hospital visitors and staff. “The sound was tremendous. We all rushed to see what had happened, and there was this car, literally hanging off the building,” said one bystander who wished to remain anonymous.
Emergency services were alerted to the scene at 2:25 PM, with units from the Seri Kembangan Fire and Rescue Station responding swiftly to the incident. Upon arrival, they discovered that the 38-year-old driver had already managed to escape from the vehicle without injury, in what officials are describing as a remarkably fortunate outcome.
“It was nothing short of miraculous that no pedestrians were walking beneath the structure at the time of the incident,” said a spokesperson for the emergency services. “The situation could have been catastrophically worse had the vehicle fallen completely.”
