The Sri Lankan military indicated that the stone extracted from the veteran, named Kangi, measured a remarkable 13.37 centimeters in length and weighed 801 grams, more than five times the average weight of a male kidney.
The Guinness World Records organization confirmed that this kidney stone’s weight surpasses the previous record set in 2008 by a Pakistani patient with a stone weighing 620 grams.
Relieved of this serious ailment, Kangi told local Sri Lankan television station Swarnavahini that he had been experiencing abdominal pain since 2020, and despite taking medication, his condition did not improve. He said, “After a recent scan, I was informed that surgery was necessary. I now feel everything is back to normal.”
