29-2-2024 (LONDON) Thomas Kingston, the 45-year-old financier husband of Lady Gabriella Kingston, passed away suddenly, as announced by Buckingham Palace on Tuesday.
Thomas Kingston entered the spotlight in 2019 when he married Lady Gabriella, 42, at a grand ceremony held at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle. Lady Gabriella, who holds the 56th position in the line of succession to the British throne, is the daughter of Prince and Princess Michael of Kent.
In a family statement released on Tuesday, Lady Gabriella paid tribute to her “beloved husband,” describing him as “an exceptional man who lit up the lives of all who knew him.” She expressed the profound shock the family experienced, mourning the unexpected loss.
Buckingham Palace conveyed that King Charles III and Queen Camilla, along with Prince and Princess Michael of Kent, were informed of Thomas Kingston’s death. The royal family grieves the loss of a much-loved member, with heartfelt thoughts and prayers extended to Gabriella and the entire Kingston family.
Emergency services were called to a property in Gloucestershire on Sunday, where Thomas Kingston was found dead. While an inquest is anticipated to determine the cause of death, no suspicious circumstances or third-party involvement are suspected.
Lady Gabriella, King’s second cousin, is not an active member of the royal family. Her parents, Prince and Princess Michael of Kent, had attended a memorial service for the late King Constantine II of Greece on Tuesday, alongside other members of the British royal family. Constantine II, who passed away in January last year, served as Lady Gabriella’s godfather.
Prince William, also a godchild of the late Greek monarch, was absent from the remembrance event at St. George’s due to a personal matter. However, it is clarified that the Prince of Wales’ non-participation is unrelated to the news of Thomas Kingston’s death.
