20-6-2024 (TOKYO) Residents of Aichi Prefecture were jolted awake late on Thursday evening by a potent earthquake measuring 4.7 on the Richter scale. The seismic event, which transpired at 10:23 pm local time, emanated from the Philippine Sea, just off the coast of the region.
According to reports from Japan’s Meteorological Agency, the quake’s epicentre was situated at a remarkably shallow depth of a mere 35 kilometres (22 miles) beneath the ocean’s surface. This proximity to the Earth’s crust amplified the tremor’s intensity, causing widespread tremors that were palpable to numerous inhabitants in the vicinity of the epicentral region.
