4-9-2023 (VENICE) Spanish actor Gabriel Guevara found himself under arrest at the prestigious Venice Film Festival amidst allegations of sexual assault in France. Known for his role in “My Fault (Culpa Mia),” Gabriel was scheduled to receive the Filming Italy prize at the festival. However, an international warrant for his arrest on charges of sexual assault in France led to his detention.
The Venice Film Festival issued an official statement in response to the incident, stating, “Following the news articles which have been emerging on various websites, regarding the Spanish actor Gabriel Guevara being arrested in Venice, the Biennale hereby clarifies that his presence in Venice was not linked to any events or productions related to the 80th Venice International Film Festival.”
Gabriel Guevara currently remains in police custody, and the Venice court of appeals is expected to hear his case in the near future.
Guevara made his acting debut with a Spanish adaptation of the Nordic teen series ‘Skam.’ However, his recent film, ‘My Fault’ (Culpa Mia), has garnered significant attention. The chemistry between Gabriel and his co-star, Nicole Wallace, has become a topic of discussion since the film’s release.
The success of ‘My Fault’ prompted the makers to confirm parts two and three of the Spanish original. The upcoming films in the trilogy, titled ‘Your Fault’ and ‘Our Fault,’ will feature Nicole Wallace and Gabriel Guevara reprising their roles as step-siblings Noah and Nick. In ‘My Fault,’ Noah moves into her mother’s new husband’s mansion, where she meets his son, Nick, and the two engage in a secret affair.
The makers teased the plot for the sequels, stating, “The love between Noah and Nick seems unbreakable, despite the maneuvers of their parents to break them up. But his job and her entry into college open their lives to new relationships. The appearance of a revenge-seeking ex-girlfriend and Nick’s mother with unclear intentions will shake the foundations not only of their relationship but of the Leister family itself. When so many people are out to destroy a relationship, can it really end well?”
