The city-state’s breakthrough came in the Men’s Kite sailing event, where Maximilian Maeder clinched a bronze, propelling Singapore to the 82nd position in the overall medal table.
This achievement marks Singapore as the fifth Southeast Asian country to earn a place on the medal table, joining a growing list of regional successes. The Philippines continues to lead the Southeast Asian contingent, currently holding an impressive 35th place in the global rankings.
The Filipino delegation has demonstrated remarkable prowess, amassing two gold and two bronze medals. This stellar performance has positioned them as the top Southeast Asian nation at the Games, showcasing the country’s athletic potential on the world stage.
Indonesia follows closely, securing the 37th spot in the overall standings. The archipelagic nation has claimed two gold medals and one bronze, affirming its status as a formidable contender in international sports.
Thailand, despite having the highest total medal count among Southeast Asian countries with six, finds itself in 42nd place. The Kingdom’s haul includes one gold, three silver, and two bronze medals, highlighting its athletes’ consistency across various disciplines.
Malaysia has also made its presence felt, occupying the 80th position with two bronze medals. This places them just ahead of Singapore in the regional hierarchy of Olympic success.
