13-6-2023 (SEOUL) Tragedy struck the South Korean entertainment industry as actress Park Soo-ryun, aged 29, tragically lost her life. She suffered a fatal fall down a flight of stairs while returning home yesterday (June 11), and despite the efforts of medical professionals, she was declared brain-dead, as reported by South Korean media outlet OSEN today.
Park Soo-ryun was widely recognized for her roles in musical theatre, captivating audiences with her talent and charisma. She made her debut in the acclaimed production “Il Tenore” in 2018. Additionally, she showcased her acting prowess in notable works such as “Finding Mr Destiny,” “The Days We Loved,” and “Siddhartha.”

While her accomplishments on the stage were commendable, Park Soo-ryun also ventured into the realm of screen acting. She made her first appearance on the small screen in the historical K-drama “Snowdrop,” sharing the screen with renowned actors Jung Hae-in and Blackpink’s Jisoo. In the series, Soo-ryun portrayed a university student who was unjustly detained.
In a selfless act, Soo-ryun’s family has made the decision to donate her organs. Her mother expressed their intentions to the media, saying, “Though her brain may be unconscious, her heart continues to beat. There must be someone out there in desperate need of her organs. As parents, we find solace in knowing that her heart will go to someone and keep beating.”
The wake to honor Park Soo-ryun will be held at Suwon Hospital, located in the Gyeonggi Provincial Medical Centre. The funeral procession is scheduled to take place on June 13, where friends, family, and fans will pay their last respects to the talented actress whose promising career was tragically cut short.
