Slater Young quickly realizes the mistake in his comment about men in relationships fantasizing about other women.
The content creator and former actor, Slater Young, has issued an apology to the public, especially to those who were offended by his statement that “fantasizing about other women is normal.” He faced significant backlash for his remarks.
According to Slater, it is “very normal” for men in relationships to chat about other women, but it would only be wrong if they acted on those fantasies and potentially engaged in cheating.
“The guy is being absolutely honest. Because, of course, if I’m going to lie to you, and you ask me if I have boners about other women and if I wanted to lie just to make you comfortable, I’m just gonna say, ‘No, of course not.’
“Kryz (Slater’s spouse) and I talk about that. It’s normal. It’s just a fact of life that there are many other women more attractive than you or just as attractive than you,” explained Slater on their SKYPodcast yesterday. “It’s been a hard few days. It’s been an eye-opening few days. Sometimes, you think that you did something OK and it takes a little while for it to sink in that, ‘Oh yeah. I was really wrong,'” Slater stated.
He further clarified, “Because, of course, when there are comments and reactions attacking you, your first instinct is to be defensive.
“And I finally realized, ‘Oh my God, I really made a mistake,’ because I’m giving it power by saying it’s okay, and me saying it’s normal kind of normalizes it and makes it okay.
“The last thing on my mind and my heart would be to objectify women,” he defended.
Slater added, “I should’ve called it out, like, ‘Ah, it happens, but this isn’t okay, we should hold ourselves to a higher standard.’ But instead, I said, ‘Oh, it happens, don’t worry about it.’ That’s what I said.”
He considered the public backlash as a learning experience, stating, “When I read the articles about the issue, I don’t feel angry, I feel ashamed that I was quoted saying such things and like, ‘Ah, this is not me and I wish I could take it back.’
“I know for a fact that I said that. I was really embarrassed,” he added.
Meanwhile, Kryz Uy, Slater’s spouse, believes that he is a good person and she is even more impressed by his immediate admission of his mistake.
“I’m at peace with that, I know you’re a good guy,” said Kryz.
