29-9-2023 (KUALA LUMPUR) Five police officers and one civilian have been apprehended on suspicion of abducting an individual from a restaurant within the city.
Assistant Commissioner Zam Halim Jamaluddin, the Officer in Charge of the Cheras district (Cheras OCPD), issued a statement on Friday (Sept 29) disclosing that the victim had reported the incident on September 26. The victim explained that a group of men forcibly took him from a restaurant in Desa Petaling.
“Following the information we gathered, a police team from the Cheras police headquarters arrested six suspects, all of whom are aged between 27 and 42 years old,” he stated. Notably, the sixth individual detained is a civilian.
The arrests took place on September 27 at the Cheras police headquarters.
ACP Zam Halim asserted that the motive behind the abduction is still under investigation.
“A comprehensive inquiry is currently underway, and once concluded, the investigative report will be submitted to the Deputy Public Prosecutor for further legal action,” he affirmed.
