5-7-2023 (SINGAPORE) Singapore’s Ministry of Manpower (MOM) released its latest figures on Wednesday, revealing that the overall unemployment rate in Singapore ticked up to 1.9% in May, maintaining a relatively low level.
The overall unemployment rate saw a slight increase from 1.8% the previous month.
Meanwhile, resident unemployment inched up to 2.7% compared to the previous month’s rate of 2.6%, while citizen unemployment remained unchanged at 2.8%.
The data showed that in May, there were 64,700 unemployed residents, with 56,900 of them being citizens.
With a projected slowdown in economic growth, the MOM suggests that unemployment may continue to experience a slight uptick in the coming months.
