19-9-2023 (SINGAPORE) A 15-year-old boy has been apprehended for allegedly robbing a convenience store while brandishing a knife.
On Monday at approximately 5:30 am, authorities received a report of an armed robbery at a convenience store located along Tampines Central 8. The teenager reportedly used a knife to threaten the victim and demanded a sum of S$827 (US$606) in cash, as well as cigarettes valued at S$181.20.
Working diligently, the police conducted ground inquiries and utilized surveillance footage from police cameras and closed-circuit television (CCTV) to identify the suspect. Within a mere 10 hours of the incident being reported, the teenager was arrested.
Law enforcement officers subsequently recovered the stolen cigarettes and S$30 in cash.
The teenager is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, where he will face charges for armed robbery. If convicted, he could face a prison sentence ranging from three to 14 years, in addition to a minimum of 12 strokes of the cane.
