The incident occurred on September 30, 2023, as the man, named Abraham, was en route to Saigon for a vacation with a close friend.
Abraham later shared the story of his misadventure, revealing that he had let his “intrusive thoughts” take control. Curiosity got the better of him, and he decided to test if his hand could fit inside the cup holder. Much to his dismay, once he inserted his hand, he realized he couldn’t retrieve it.
Quick-thinking, Abraham’s friend immediately captured the comical situation on video and shared it online. The video quickly gained popularity, amassing over 430,000 views on TikTok. However, TikTok appended a warning to the video, reminding viewers of the potential risks and hazards involved in attempting such activities.
In the video, Abraham can be heard requesting butter as a possible solution to free his hand from its predicament. His friend, in the meantime, alerted a flight attendant about the situation. With a mixture of confusion and amusement, the flight attendant attempted to assist Abraham but was unable to provide the desired assistance.
Undeterred, Abraham persisted in his request for butter, hoping to use it as a lubricant to facilitate the release of his hand. Unfortunately, the flight attendant informed him that butter was not available. The video continued to document Abraham’s ongoing efforts to extricate his hand from the cup holder, and after approximately 10 minutes of struggle, he finally succeeded.
Reflecting on the incident, Abraham admitted feeling foolish during the ordeal and expressed relief when he finally managed to free his hand from the cup holder.
