23-5-2023 (SINGAPORE) Seasoned mountaineers emphasize the importance of years of experience and preparedness for the worst in order to survive treacherous expeditions to the world’s highest peaks. This comes as a Singaporean climber has gone missing near the summit of Mount Everest.
Mr. Shrinivas Sainis Dattatraya successfully reached the 8,849-meter peak on Friday (May 19). However, according to a petition on the Change.org website by his cousin Divya Bharath, he subsequently experienced frostbite and altitude sickness, leading to him becoming separated from his group and falling down to an altitude of around 8,000 meters.

A team of experienced sherpas immediately initiated search operations on Saturday morning. The last known contact with Mr. Shrinivas was with officials at the base camp when he was at an altitude of approximately 8,500 meters.
Mr. Shrinivas, who was participating in an expedition organized by the Nepalese climbing company Seven Summit Treks, had embarked on his journey from Singapore to Nepal on April 1 with the aim of conquering Mount Everest.
In light of the situation, his family has made an urgent appeal for assistance, including the deployment of a specialized rescue team to aid in the search and rescue efforts.
