12-1-2024 (SINGAPORE) Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong is set to visit Brunei from Saturday (Jan 13) to Monday to partake in the wedding festivities of Prince Abdul Mateen. The 32-year-old Prince tied the knot with his fiancée, Yang Mulia Anisha Rosnah, 29, on Thursday, marking the beginning of a 10-day celebration.
The invitation for Mr. Lee to attend the joyous occasion came from Brunei Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, the father of the groom. Joining the Singaporean Prime Minister on this visit will be Mrs. Lee, Senior Minister and Coordinating Minister for National Security Teo Chee Hean, and Minister for Foreign Affairs Vivian Balakrishnan, as announced by the Prime Minister’s Office on Friday.
The royal wedding ceremony is scheduled for Sunday, with a grand royal banquet to follow on Monday. Prior to the banquet, Mr. and Mrs. Lee will have an audience with Sultan Bolkiah and his wife, Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha.
During Mr. Lee’s absence from Singapore, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Lawrence Wong will take on the role of Acting Prime Minister from Saturday to Monday.
