3-12-2024 (SINGAPORE) Singapore Police Force has initiated international cooperation to track down a 34-year-old suspect following the murder of a 30-year-old woman in a Dover Road Housing Development Board (HDB) flat on Monday afternoon.
Authorities confirmed on Tuesday that the case has been classified as murder, with investigations revealing that the suspect had already fled Singapore before police were alerted to the incident at approximately 5:10 pm. Police sources indicated that the victim and suspect were acquainted, though the nature of their relationship remains undisclosed.
The discovery was made in an eleventh-floor apartment at Block 1 Dover Road, prompting a significant police presence at the scene. Witnesses reported seeing approximately ten officers, both uniformed and plainclothes, conducting investigations at the location. Crime Scene Investigation officers were observed removing evidence in boxes from the premises around 8:10 pm.
Local residents provided additional context, with one neighbour confirming police presence from around 5 pm. Another resident, living directly beneath the affected flat, reported hearing emergency vehicle sirens at approximately the same time.
This incident marks the latest in a series of homicides in Singapore this year, becoming the eighth murder or alleged murder case of 2024. It follows closely after another recent case in Ang Mo Kio, where a 66-year-old man was charged with the murder of a 67-year-old woman in her HDB flat between November 27 and 29.
