8-6-2023 (SINGAPORE) The Singapore police have apprehended a 22-year-old man in connection with an armed robbery case that took place on June 6 at Block 636 Bukit Batok Central.
According to the police, they received a report about the incident at approximately 3 pm that day.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect, identified as Mohammad Nor Khaliq, allegedly used a karambit knife to rob a 14-year-old boy, demanding the victim to hand over his belongings.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident.
Officers from the Jurong Police Division swiftly identified the suspect and managed to arrest him within one hour of the reported crime. They utilized ground inquiries and images captured by police cameras to aid in their investigations.
During the arrest, the victim’s wallet and mobile phone were recovered.
On June 8, the accused was brought before the court and charged with armed robbery.
If convicted, the offence carries a prison sentence ranging from three to 14 years, in addition to at least 12 strokes of the cane.
According to court documents, the stolen items reportedly include a mobile phone, wallet, sling bag, and a pair of Apple AirPods.
The police emphasized their commitment to spare no effort in apprehending individuals involved in violent crimes.
In the event of a robbery, the public is advised to stay calm, take note of the perpetrator’s physical appearance and any distinguishing features, and immediately contact the police for assistance, added the authorities.
