26-10-2023 (SINGAPORE) The highly anticipated Singapore International Film Festival (SGIFF) is set to return for its 34th edition, offering cinephiles an exciting lineup of over 100 films from 50 different countries. The festival, scheduled to take place from November 30 to December 10, will kick off with the presence of renowned Chinese actress Fan Bingbing at the opening night.
This year’s SGIFF will commence with Tiger Stripes, a groundbreaking Malaysian film that made history by winning the Grand Prize at Cannes’ Critics’ Week. Additionally, for the first time in 25 years, three Singaporean films will compete in the prestigious Asian Feature Film Competition:
- Tomorrow Is A Long Time by Jow Zhi Wei – an emotional film delving into the relationship between a father and son.
- Dreaming & Dying by Nelson Yeo – a fantasy drama following the lives of three middle-aged friends.
- Last Shadow At First Light by Nicole Midori Woodford – a mystery film that takes audiences on a journey with a Singaporean-Japanese girl to her mother’s hometown.
The SGIFF will also premiere 20 films from around the world, including Valli from India and A Year Of No Significance directed by Singaporean filmmaker Kelvin Tong.
