10-10-2023 (SINGAPORE) The Singapore embassy in Cambodia hosted a ceremony on October 6 to honor the young scholars who have been awarded the prestigious Asean Scholarship for the Academic Year 2024. This scholarship program offers exceptional opportunities for outstanding young scholars from Cambodia and other Asean nations to pursue their studies in Singapore.
Among this year’s Cambodian recipients of the scholarship are Chan Mengmonichesda, Ung Helen, Houy Hollyvan, Kuy Kokwing, Ketyarath Sopanha, and Kim Channchesda. These students have demonstrated their dedication, hard work, and a relentless pursuit of knowledge, and the awards serve as a testament to their exceptional achievements.
During the ceremony, Ambassador Teo Lay Cheng commended the students for their commitment and emphasized the crucial role played by their parents in nurturing their talents. She acknowledged the unwavering support, sacrifices, and guidance provided by the parents, which have contributed significantly to the success of these brilliant young minds.
Ambassador Teo also highlighted the Asean Scholarship program as an excellent example of Singapore’s firm belief in the importance of human capital development for a brighter future. She noted that this philosophy is shared by Cambodia, further strengthening the bilateral ties between the two countries.
The Asean Scholarship provides comprehensive coverage for four years of education, encompassing levels from Secondary 3 to Pre-university 2. The scholarship journey culminates in the internationally recognized Singapore-Cambridge GCE A-Level certificate, opening doors to further academic and professional opportunities for the recipients.
