12-6-2023 (SINGAPORE) A regular serviceman of the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) was discovered deceased at Changi Naval Base on Monday (Jun 12), according to a statement from the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF).
The body of the serviceman was found at approximately 8:50am, prompting the activation of the Singapore Police Force and Singapore Civil Defence Force.
MINDEF clarified that the serviceman’s death was unrelated to any training activities.
“After conducting preliminary investigations, the police do not suspect any foul play. The case has been classified as an unnatural death, and investigations are currently underway,” stated MINDEF in a news release.
“The Ministry of Defence and the SAF would like to express our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased serviceman. We are providing assistance to the family during this difficult time of mourning.”
The exact circumstances surrounding the serviceman’s death have yet to be determined, as authorities continue their investigation.
