10-11-2023 (BANGKOK) Students at Phanat Pittayakhan School were left shaken when the floor of their classroom suddenly collapsed, causing nearly 30 students to fall and sustain minor injuries. Prompt action by the local police from Phanat Nikhom Police Station ensured the rescue and safety of the affected students.
The incident occurred in a two-story school building, specifically in Secondary School Classroom 1/11, located on the ground floor. The room, measuring approximately 5 meters wide and 3 meters long, featured a wooden floor that exhibited signs of deterioration and instability. The collapse resulted in a drop of over 2 meters, with the area behind the collapsed floor being waterlogged.
Approximately 30 male and female students, who were seated and engrossed in their studies, suddenly found themselves plummeting to the ground. Thankfully, all injuries sustained were minor, and immediate first aid was administered to the affected students.
Mr. Ploy Keeratipakarn, the director of Phanatpittayakarn School, recently assumed his position and discovered that some of the classroom floors in the older section of the building had already become warped, indicating pre-existing structural damage. As a precautionary measure, the affected classroom has been cordoned off, and arrangements have been made to relocate the students to another classroom while repairs and maintenance are carried out.
The safety and well-being of students are of paramount importance, and the school administration is taking swift action to address the incident. Investigations are underway to determine the underlying cause of the floor collapse, and measures will be implemented to prevent similar incidents in the future.
