10-12-2023 (JAKARTA) Residents of Benowo, Surabaya City, were left in shock after the unsettling discovery of a woman’s severed breasts in the Adventure Land Romokalisari pier area.
The body parts were stumbled upon by a group of small children engaged in fishing on Thursday (7/12/2023). The finding prompted an immediate report to the Benowo Police, leading to coordination with the Surabaya Police Inafis Team for further investigation.
Police Chief AKP Nurdianto Eko Wartono disclosed that the children initially mistook the mysterious package, being carried by the current, for pieces of animal meat. However, upon closer inspection, they were horrified to realize it was a piece of a woman’s breast. The children promptly reported the shocking discovery to Adventure Land security officers.
Upon receiving the report, Nurdianto’s team swiftly reached the crime scene (TKP) to investigate the gruesome finding. The breast pieces were then handed over to the Surabaya Police Inafis Team for identification at Dr. Soetomo Regional Hospital.
When discovered, the breast fragments were securely wrapped in a plastic bag inside a cloth bag. Stones were also found in the bag, seemingly used to weigh down the object. Additionally, a piece of paper attached to the plastic contained a full name, date of birth, and a barcode, adding an eerie dimension to the situation.
“There is a name; we are still investigating whether it belongs to that person. If true, we will carry out further development,” explained Nurdianto.
Preliminary examination results suggest that the breast fragment may have originated from a patient at Muji Rahayu Benowo Hospital, according to the Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit for the Surabaya Police, AKBP Hendro Sukmono.
“We have checked the identification of the body. From the information at Soetomo Regional Hospital, they provided information that the body belonged to a cancer patient who had been treated at Muji Rahayu Benowo Hospital,” stated Hendro. However, he refrained from confirming this until receiving information from Muji Rahayu Benowo Hospital.
If proven to be medical waste deliberately discarded carelessly, authorities will investigate the hospital for violating regulations.
